I was born in Kempton
Park, South Africa, on 22 May 1987. I finished secondary school at HoĆ«rskoolJeugland, Kempton Park in 2005 and enrolled for Bachelor’s degree in Chemical
Engineering at the University of Pretoria in 2006. It was during this time where
I developed a lot of skills just waiting to be applied!
I gained some experience
working at companies like the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research
(CSIR), African Explosives Limited (AEL) and Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL) in
Ghana. I am currently busy with my Master’s degree in Dresden (Germany),
contributing to the research world of polymer additives.
I would describe myself as
a challenger, acknowledging the possibilities to learn something new every day
and don’t like routine work. I’m passionate about the work that I’m doing. I
enjoy being creative, always trying to stay positive while approaching a
project. I take pride in the quality of work I deliver and constantly looking
for ways in which I can improve my performance.
In my private time I enjoy
keeping my mind busy, doing anything from D.I.Y. work, reading a book and
experimenting with web development, to enjoying the outdoors. I started doing
rock climbing to experience the outdoors and also to get that good adrenalin
pumping…
I recently joined the world of DSLR photography.
For a while I was a “Point-and-shooter”, using the Canon Powershot S3-IS. This camera inspired me
for 4 years, teaching me the world of photography. But it was not long until I
was limited to the functions of what the camera could do.
I recently invested in the Nikon D5100. Since I converted to
DSLR, a whole new world of possibilities opened up for me. With this camera,
I’m trying to show that amazing images can be taken without being a real expert…
All you need is confidence and time. I initially started doing photography
without using editing software, but recently started to understand the art of
Adobe. I still try to limit the use of editing software. The only photos edited
on my blog appear on my Portfolio page.
The main purpose of this blog is to share my European experience and also to inspire the reader to pick up a camera and share the moments captured in the world of pixels...
Feel free to browse around
and explore my world!
